There's been a recent uptick in credit card fraud. Here are some ways to avoid having any issues. First way is to go paperless for your credit card statements. Your banks website is usually more safe than the mailbox. Shredding documents is usually another good way to avoid fraud. It's also a good idea to shred any old cards as well. Whenever you're at a gas station, check for skimmers. They usually fit right on top of a credit card reader. Another good idea is to freeze your credit so that would be thieves can apply for credit as if they're you. If you have to apply for credit moving forward, it's a pretty easy process to thaw your credit temporarily and then re-freeze it.
